Directions DIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD: From HWY-15 in northern San Diego county take HWY-76 east through the Pauma Valley and past Lake Henshaw until you reach a junction with HWY-79. Go north on HWY-79 (left) for a short distance and then turn right onto HWY-S2 heading south. In a short distance you will come to a fork in the road. Go left and take HWY-S22 into Anza-Borrego State Park. The trailhead is a big dirt turnout area on the left side of HWY-S22 at mile marker- 16, about one mile from Borrego Valley proper. There usually is a fair amount of cars parked here for the hike up Hellhole Canyon. The CHRT trail departs steeply from the northwest end of the parking area. Happy Hiking.
