From Bishop, CA:

 From Bishop, turn west on HWY 168 and head into the Sierra Nevada mountains. Start your tour of the area by driving past the turnoff for South Lake and continue up the road past the little community of Aspendell. 18 miles from Bishop, turn right on the road to North Lake. After you have seen that area, head back down the road and turn right and head the short distance to lovely, Lake Sabrina. From Lake Sabrina, head back down the main road, past Aspendell, and turn right on the South Lake road. Continue 7 miles up the road till you reach beautiful South Lake at an elevation of 9,760-feet. Return to Bishop the way you came. .
